Kick the bucket

This is a moment in time writing. I am learning to use sophisticated punctuation I think I am at level 5. This is about an outside game that I played with some people.

 

                                      Kick the bucket

 It was the dead night, the moon was concealed behind the clouds; everyone was quiet, with their ears taking in every sound and their eyes trying to make out the shadows of the night. Everyone was focused, ready to be a show off and win the game. 

 “READY OR NOT HERE I COME!” Shrieked the seeker, everyone was ready. I crept forward, peeping around the corner to see the seeker calmly crouching in a corner observing the surroundings trying to spot the hiders, like a cat waiting for its prey. He covered the torch hiding his whereabouts. The seeker found two people creeping behind the truck, the seeker called their names and kicked the bucket the two victims, Kaine and Aden. 

 About everyone was found, I spied the seeker wandering off to find the others “NOW!” I thought to myself not knowing if I said it out loud or not. In the blink of an eye, I leapt out of my hiding place charging towards the bucket not aware of anything else. That's what the seeker must’ve thought when they saw the bucket too, the seeker charged towards the bucket. My foot swiped barely grazing the bucket then... Smack! 

I smacked into the seeker, my Dad. My shoulder was screeching in pain and so was my back. “When did grass become so hard?” I thought to myself. I grabbed an ice pack and slumped onto the couch. A sharp pain struck through my shoulder. I was finished for the night and I was even finished with walking. The seeker won and as you know he bragged... a lot.

 In devotions, we are learning about integrity. We are thinking about what we would do if we were invisible. What would you do????

Black lives matter

Introduction

In 2020 George Floyd was murdered by a white cop named Derek Chauvin. Even though George Floyd did have a criminal past he served his time, and wanted to have a new life in the city of Minneapolis.  Racism is a major problem.

Protesting

After George Floyd’s death, many people took it to the streets and protested. It enraged many people and caused burning buildings, conflict with police and many more. Statues were pulled down and wrecked. It was chaotic. 

Effects

The effects towards this action are outrageous, it causes violence around the world, and police are still doing this like it's a trend. Yes they might have done something wrong, but they do not deserve to die, it will force darker people to live in the shadows until there is peace. Just because they were born dark, maybe even suntanned for too long, WHO KNOWS!!!!!! The world is unfair but this is the worst thing yet.

Different Opinions about the movement

Many people go by the motto “Forgive and forget” but it is hard to forget about this. The government has done nothing about this. People are still protesting, some police are still killing and a minor percent just forgot. The family of George Floyd is angry but hurt at the same time. The brother states “ he could have just handcuffed him or tased him, instead, he put his knee on his neck while he was begging for his life and still continued his ways”. That is truly heartbreaking.

Conclusion 

In conclusion, people should not be forced to hide away and police should not kill darker people because they think they’re superior. Innocent or not, if they do wrong put them in prison that's what they're for. No one should be disrespected and killed while begging for their life from the “good guys”.  

Maths Strategy
