Narrative writing

This is the final result of my narrative writing.  I have based this on kind of a futuristic end of the world setting. Enjoy

The Last Survivors

Orientation

The once bustling city was now abandoned, plants covered the empty motorways; years of civilization had

been left to rot away and let nature take over. The human race was non-existent. We don’t know how and

why ‘they’  are here, and that’s what my good friend Austin and I are going to figure out.

Problem

“Come on, we’ve been here like a million times, nothing is new,” I complained as we explored the old

Nanosystem building - again.  The rusty stairs creaked as we walked on them. “Look!” I yelled cheerfullyas I ran towards the strange box; finally something new... We tried using all the strength we had but our

efforts proved to be futile and the blazing sun was not helping. Suddenly, Austin kicked the box outside the

window, landing with a thud. We peered down and the ‘impossible’ box was open. The box was useless.

There was only a nanosystem tablet but even the blue energy inside Austin’s hand made no difference.

Noise. I froze. “Get on your bike!” Austin shouted. The ‘others’ were here.

Complication #1

Speeding on the plant-infested roads, ‘they’ still continued to chase, not giving up. The ship then began to

slow down. “I think we lost it,” I shouted over the roaring engines of the bikes, looking back at the flying

ship as it let off?... Drones? DRONES. “We’re gonna die!” I cried out, these drones were much quicker

than the original ship. “Split up and meet back in town.” I nodded my head before taking a swift right. The

drone was dangerously close. Clutching the sticky bomb, I skidded to a halt, It's all or nothing I thought

trying to hype myself up. The drone stopped. Now. I threw the bomb at my target. Please…

Complication #2

It worked. I cheered having my own parade inside my head, now to town. I sped back down the road,

going up the Cameron Freeway dodging all the stray vines and rubble - there!  I watched as he easily

dodged every single bullet. Holding the electric sword that was strapped to the side of his bike, up he

went. Releasing his grip on the motorbike and grasping his sword in his hands before thrusting it into the

head of the ship.

Resolution

Victory. I slowly pulled up next to Austin “That was amazing!” I complimented. “Thanks, now let's get out

of here,” He replied seriously. “Yeah, but how are you getting back?” I questioned staring at his ruined

bike. “Guess we’re sharing,” He shrugged his shoulders “I dibs driving,” I raced before he grabbed me by

my collar pulling me backward “No, you will have your panic’ attacks,” He said mocking me “But it’s my

bike,” I argued. “I found it for you,” He spoke with a smirk, “Fine,” I sighed in defeat. We jumped on the

bike and off we went.
